Minecraft prison servers come in two broad styles. Classic prison is the original format: ranks from A to Z, tools that start at stone, and a slow climb where each letter is a goal. OP prison, short for “overpowered”, speeds everything up. Server lists describe it as a faster, more exaggerated version of prison, with stronger enchantments, larger money multipliers, token systems and bigger jumps in progress.
How the two compare
| Classic prison | OP prison | |
|---|---|---|
| Ranks | A to Z, then prestige | Often far past A to Z, with rebirths or ascensions on top |
| Tools | Start at stone and improve slowly | Handed out strong, at levels vanilla never reaches |
| Pace | Slow: each letter takes work | Fast: big numbers from the first hour |
| Currencies | Money for ranking up, often tokens for upgrades | Several: money plus tokens, gems or credits |
| Numbers | Prices you can keep in your head | Balances in the millions and beyond |
Where Fractured Skies sits
Fractured Skies runs a classic ladder and a classic pace, with the upgrade systems OP prison made popular sitting on top of it:
- Classic: 26 mines from A to Z, a stone pickaxe and no money on your first join, rank-ups paid for with cash you earned selling blocks, and 100 prestiges to climb after that. Nothing is handed to you at spawn.
- Not classic: custom enchants on pickaxes and weapons, tokens as a second currency, sell multipliers, nukes, plot mines, bosses and a PvP mine.
The difference from OP prison is where the power comes from. Every enchant level, multiplier and nuke here is bought with tokens you mined or won at an event, one level at a time, and the ladder underneath is long enough to spend them on. No package in the store sells any of it.
Either style can be pay-to-win
Whether a server is pay-to-win depends on its store, whatever its style. Sell boosters, crate keys and in-game currency are sold on classic and OP servers alike. What the Fractured Skies store sells.
Which one suits you
Classic prison suits players who like a long climb, where reaching the next letter means something and the economy stays small enough to follow. OP prison suits players who want large numbers quickly and enjoy tuning enchantments and multipliers. Plenty of players try both, and a server like this one is built for players who want the climb and the tuning at the same time.
